Court Awarded $25,000 Grant to Accept Electronic Citations
Lyndhurst: The Court received a $25,000 grant through the Ohio Department of Public Safety to expand the electronic capability of the Court by providing remote access to the six local police departments within the jurisdiction to submit tickets electronically to the Court.
Benefits of utilizing electronic citations (commonly referred to as “e-citations”) include: (1) reducing the amount of time it takes an officer to issue a citation; (2) improving officer safety by reducing the amount of time an officer is parked on the side of a busy road or highway to issue a citation; (3) reducing errors and illegible citations; and (4) saving officers time by eliminating the need to drive paper citations to the courthouse.
The Court anticipates implementing this software sometime in the fall of 2020.
